One of BSRA's priorities is monitoring local planning decisions.  Many activities take place at the county and municipal levels that change the fabric of our shoreline community on a day to day basis. Monthly decisions of the committee of adjustment and the Planning Committee to the 5 year reviews of the official plans for Huron County and the Municipality of Bluewater drive these changes.
.

County Planning

Huron County is reviewing its official plan to update for changes in the community and to recognize and work-in changes in Provincial Policy. As the county approaches the end of its review BSRA has commented on the current draft:

After the county has finalized its plan it will be reviewed by the province.

Local Planning

Changes to the Detailed Zoning By-law are scheduled.

  • Consolidation of separate by-laws for each ward
  • Changes to mapping using the county's GIS system.
  • First public reviews may be in the Summer 2010 (schedule)

The municipality will update its official plan after the county's official plan is approved by the province.
