The ravines are unsafe for human contact most of the time and are an ongoing source of Lake contamination. The Lakebed is contaminated and swimmers are at enhanced risk of illness any time the lakebed is disturbed. This occurs when at waist depth the lakebed cannot be seen. This can be caused by any combination of high wave action, recent rain and strong winds.
